Instructions for Creating the Life You Really Want

"The universe will fill your cup -- if you carry a big cup,
a little cup, or a thimble!" -Sonia

There are metaphysical laws at work in the universe that bring to us both what we want and what we don't want, depending on our habits of thought and behavior.

In Your Heart's Desire, Sonia introduces nine universal principles for transforming one's life, offering practical advice, specific exercises, and modern-day parables designed to help readers reach their fundamental dreams.

NINE PRINCIPLES OF CREATIVE MANIFESTATION:
1. Focus your desire.
2. Send clear messages to your subconscious mind. Repeat them and make sure they are positive.
3. Deeply imagine realizing your goal. Do it in detail.
4. Establish order in your physical environment.
5. Open yourself to your intuition. Become aware of synchronicity, etc.
6. Rein in impulsive behavior.
7. Honor the power of your words. Say what you mean.
8. Persist in your dream.
9. Surrender to divine power and allow the universe to do the rest.

YOUR IMAGINATION GARDEN RITUAL
Excerpt From Principle #3

Take fifteen minutes a day to mentally tend your imagination garden. Just before bed is often a good time. Because the subconscious mind responds very well to ritual, pick a special outfit to wear when going into your creative garden. (Pajamas are fine, if they are special.) Putting on special clothes will prime your subconscious mind and put it into the receptive mode.

Since ancient times, all priests and holy men have worn sacred clothing to illustrate that important, soulful work is going on. (And they often looked like pajamas!) By wearing a special garment when working, you get all the creative circuits in your soul operating and releasing into the ethers the best of your creativity.

One thing I have learned over time is that to really engage my imagination, it helps to do something physical to boost it. I boost my own imagination by engaging all of my senses in this creativity ritual.

First, I put on my sacred kimono (a Japanese wraparound kimono from Chinatown), and I tell my subconscious mind that I am going into my imagination garden. I bring a notebook and pen. Next, I light incense and candles. My favorite incense is copal, because it has a rich, earthy smell and was used in ancient temple blessings. My candles are beeswax, but only because I like beeswax candles!

Then I play special meditation music. I have several favorite CDs that have natural sounds of birds, running water, wind breezes with flute accompaniment. The music sets the ambiance I need to start dreaming.

When I have created the proper ambiance, I close my eyes and meditate on my Heart's Desire. I try to envision it as a movie that I am starring in, rather than simply watching from afar. I enjoy my creative movie for a few moments, then open my eyes. Finally, I write down what I want to create, and then I read it back, out loud.

This entire ritual takes fifteen to twenty minutes, and I enjoy it so much that I look forward to it every day. Try creating your own imagination garden. There is no "proper" way to do this. Trust your natural instincts and allow yourself to invent your ritual with a sense of childlike play. Don't censor your dream or try to downscale it to realistic size. The imagination is where all invention is born, and it needs to be unleashed with sensuality and abandon. By doing this, you will create the necessary passion to set your dream in motion.

Heart-centered practical approach to being your own genie
Having interviewed Dr. Choquette for my radio program on more then one ocassion, I was attracted to this book from the get go. So often, people fear to even dream because what if it doesn't come true. Truth is, it can, if you do the work. Dr. Choquette provides a grounded, easy-to-understand, and fun self-study playful program in this wonderful book. Not only does she show a person how to get out of their own way ... but she instills marching orders to believe it can happen!

I've manifested jobs, items, people, opportunities, and lots of other wonderful synchronicities since picking up this program in 2002. Heck - I am still working on manifesting a few more wishes in my heart!! And that's the truly fun part of it. Nightingale-Conant has an audio version which is great for those long commutes to and from work. Dr. Choquette and Heart's Desire are distinctive products in the world of metaphysical teachings. Number One: Sonia is a guide who directs clients to their highest soul purpose. It's like being given the right driving directions to reach your intended destination in the quickest most efficient way. My impression is that this approach is far more helpful than simple straight prediction. Lots of psychics are straight predictors but few are guides who empower you to believe in yourself by helping you see outside your own limiting beliefs. Number Two: Heart's Desire is very grounded. I can't begin to describe how confusing and spacey other books on manifesting your dreams can be. Although it comes down to personal taste ... Heart's Desire is written in an easy to understand, matter-of-fact tone, and does not restrict its audience to the "metaphysical snobs" using jargon and other New Age slang. Whether you are new to the "woo-woo" or a seasoned consumer of it ... this book is a gem.

The best part about Heart's Desire is that it teaches readers to be happy with the unexpected. Wishes are fulfilled in a form different from what one may have imagined. Many of my wishes manifested in an unlikely way that was BETTER than how I imagined. The book teaches how this surprise is actually common and one to look forward to. Each of Dr. Choquette's 9 steps are fun to implement. And again ... getting to our dreams is like a magic carpet ride. The ride is is just as fun as the arrival.

Choquette is a storyteller, intuitive, and teacher. Heart's Desire is a passing on of wisdom.

Another wonderful author is Lynne Robinson of Divine Intuition. Her style is also grounded and does not foster superstitution or dependance.
